How does

Full-service Design work?

At Design Release our full-service design is organised into steps, resulting in a straight forward process and peace of mind.

STEP 1 INITIAL IN-HOME CONSULTATION

  • It’s here that we will discuss your project in detail.

  • We send you a Client Agreement to sign so we can move forward.

STEP 2 SIGNED CONTRACT & PART PAYMENT

  • Once the Client Agreement has been signed we request 20 design hours to be paid up front to begin the project.

  • We will set dates for the concept design, design presentation and site measure to take place.

STEP 3 SITE MEASURE

  • Measurements and photos of your home are taken, along with an inventory of your existing furniture.

  • If project is a new build, we will meet with your builder/architect to review plans.

STEP 4 TRADE DAY

  • We meet with you, and your appointed builder and trades people at your home to communicate the brief to them.

  • From here your appointed builder and trades people will prepare and send in their quotes for works.

STEP 5 CONCEPT DESIGN

  • We review initial consultation notes to be clear on your overall goals before moving forward.

  • Send you a proposed floor plan, mood board with colour palette, and key design ideas for approval.

  • *From this step it generally takes 6-8 weeks to get to the completion of STEP 6 (it’s a long time, but we think it’s better to plan things well at the beginning of your project).

STEP 6 DESIGN DEVELOPMENT & PRESENTATION

  • We pick all your furniture, fabrics, hard finishes and fixtures, lighting and paint colours.

  • At our presentation meeting we present these to you for your sign off approval, along with technical drawings (3D drawings if requested).

  • We will request payment at this meeting for ordering to be able to commence.

STEP 7 PURCHASING & ORDERING

  • Collect payment from you for ordering, purchasing and tracking of your items.

  • We will also coordinate shipping, delivery and storage of these items.

STEP 8 DESIGN COORDINATION

  • We ensure that the design work is carried out to the highest standard, and resolve any variations with your builder and tradespeople.

  • We attend regular site visits to coordinate design and communicate with your builder.*

STEP 9 INSTALLATION DAY

  • We coordinate for your goods to be delivered to your home from where they have been stored.

  • All furniture, art, soft furnishings and accessories are installed for you.

  • Any deficiencies are recorded for reconciliation.

STEP 10 REVEAL DAY & POST PROJECT FOLLOW UP

  • We reveal your new space to you for the first time as a ‘complete’ space.

  • We provide you with warranties, care and maintenance information for furniture and fabric.

  • We will return the next day to collect accessories and request a client testimonial.

*We are happy to recommend a number of builders and trades people to you for your project, conversely you can appoint these professionals yourself. Once you have appointed a builder for your renovation they are responsible for the site and all of the trades. We oversee design coordination at this stage, but it is your builder who is responsible for the time frame of your build, and the execution of your construction plans.

Your appointed builder and trades are contracted and paid directly by you, not Design Release. This way your property is covered by their insurance. These building professionals would invoice you directly for their completed work.

We look forward to helping you with your project.
